Granite

Granite is one of the most popular countertop materials on the market and a great choice for both modern or traditional houses. Available in a striking array of colors, granite's durability, longevity, and economy make it ideal for kitchen countertops and other heavily used surfaces, including table tops and floors. One of the most durable natural surfaces available, granite is known for resisting chips, cracks and heat damage. However it is a porous material and will require sealing to prevent staining and etching; Resealing is recommended once every two years.

Marble

Known for it’s elegant beauty and refined style, marble has been a popular choice in homes for centuries. This beautiful stone is typically a solid grayish-white or cream color and has dark veins running through it, though there are other, rarer varieties that have a pale green or pink base color.

Marble is very strong and resistant to damage although, it is a porous stone and will require resealing twice a year. Placing hot cookware on marble may cause damage to the stone, and spilling acidic foods or liquids, like vinegar or lemon or lime juice, can dull it. However, polishes and sealants can increase marble's resistance considerably.

Quartz

Quartz is one of nature’s hardest and most abundant minerals. Manufacturers of quartz countertops add pigments, resins and, occasionally, recycled content, to a base that is about 95 percent natural stone.

Quartz is tougher than granite and marble and doesn’t require sealing as it is naturally resistant to moisture, stains and bacteria. Quartz is customizable as it has a variety of edge treatments and installation options available.
