About Calacatta Viola
Calacatta Viola reproduces one of the most striking marbles in the world: a white field broken by heavy purple-black veins that pool and branch across the slab. As a printed quartz it delivers that look in a surface you can actually use in a kitchen.
Real Viola marble is porous, soft and expensive; this is neither porous nor delicate. What it asks for is deliberate layout, and a mitered edge where you want the veining to turn a corner, because the pattern lives in the surface layer.

What is quartz?
Quartz slabs are engineered from crushed natural quartz bound with resin and pigment. The result is a non-porous surface with consistent color and pattern that never needs sealing, making it a practical choice for kitchens and baths.
Calacatta Viola questions we get asked
How close is it to real Calacatta Viola marble?
Visually very close, and far more practical: non-porous, no sealing, no etching from wine or citrus. Natural Viola has depth in the stone itself that no print fully matches, and it costs and behaves accordingly.
Is a purple-veined slab hard to design around?
It needs commitment. It is stunning with white, deep green or black cabinetry and brass, and it fights a busy backsplash. Most clients use it as a single feature, not throughout.
Do I need a mitered edge?
For an island or waterfall, we recommend it, because the printed pattern is on the surface and a miter carries it down the side. On a standard perimeter run a normal polished edge is fine.
Does Calacatta Viola need to be sealed?
No. Engineered quartz is non-porous, so there is nothing to seal. Warm water, a soft cloth and a mild soap if needed is the whole routine; skip abrasive pads, bleach and any sealer or topical treatment.
Can I put a hot pan on Calacatta Viola?
No. The resin binder in every engineered quartz can scorch or discolor, so use a trivet. If hot pans routinely land on your counter, granite or porcelain is the safer surface.
